The fix worked, and I was able to “connect” to my wireless network, however even after “connecting to it” entering wireless password and keyring password I was still unable to access the internet. IF it doesn’t, download a new one from Dell, and install it. Updated the drivers which did not help so removed and reinstalled the drivers, but that too did not help.

Being a Dell, it’s likely a Broadcom chip. Wireless LAN Soft blocked: Having a problem logging in? If it doesnt work but linux sees it, it might now work with all distros then its likely the card is dead.

I tried using the Windows wireless configuration utility and disabled the Dell Wireless WLAN card utilitylinnux the Wireless service, but that did not help. I have a dell laptop with at dell wireless wlan mini-card driver, when I installed Ubuntu side by side with Win7 I assume it was missing a wireless driver since that’s what it said.

See this thread on the Ubuntu forums. I would try booting to a live linux CD to see if it works in linux. The fix worked, and I was able to “connect” to my wireless network, however even after “connecting to it” entering wireless password and keyring password I was still unable to access the internet. Just starting out and have a question? It cannot detect any wireless network at all.
Reboot again after loading the new driver, just to make sure you are starting from a good base. A Linux LiveCD is a good idea to test whether your problem is hardware or software, but the card might not work out-of-the-box in Linux.
